How to Book an Interpreter for a Bank or Public Service Hall Visit in Tbilisi

If you have an appointment at a bank, the Public Service Hall or another organisation and cannot confidently follow the conversation, you can arrange a professional interpreter in advance. An interpreter helps you understand questions and communicates your answers accurately in the required languages.

The interpreter does not make decisions for the institution and cannot guarantee the result of an application or transaction. Their role is to support accurate, confidential spoken communication. To book an interpreter in Tbilisi, send the practical details below first.

Why foreign nationals may need an interpreter for Georgian-language text

Foreign nationals often need an interpreter at a bank or the Public Service Hall when an application, agreement, consent form, banking form or another text is prepared in Georgian. The interpreter orally translates the Georgian text into a language the client understands and helps both sides communicate accurately.

In some cases, the institution may ask the interpreter to confirm that the Georgian-language text was translated accurately for the foreign client. The bank, Public Service Hall or notary determines the required form of confirmation, whether an interpreter’s signature is needed and any other procedural requirements.

Information needed to check interpreter availability

  1. Languages: the language spoken by each party and the direction of interpretation;
  2. Date and time: the confirmed appointment or an available time window;
  3. Institution and address: bank, Public Service Hall, notary, clinic, court or another organisation;
  4. Purpose: account service, an application, document execution, consultation or another task;
  5. Expected duration: how long you expect the appointment to take;
  6. Preparation material: an appointment letter, form, agreement or specialist terms the interpreter should review.

After receiving this information, we check the availability of an interpreter for the requested language pair and provide the applicable terms and price. A booking is final only after it has been agreed and confirmed.

Interpreting and document translation are separate services

Translating speech during a visit is interpreting. If the institution also needs a foreign-language document in another language, written translation may be required. One service does not automatically include the other, so mention both needs when requesting a quote.

Before a Public Service Hall appointment

Different services have different forms and supporting-document requirements. Check the requirements for your specific service on the official Public Service Hall website or with the responsible authority, and tell us what the appointment concerns. A foreign-issued document may have translation, certification, apostille or legalisation requirements depending on the document and destination; those steps are distinct from interpreting.

Booking an interpreter does not guarantee priority access, acceptance of an application or a particular decision. If the appointment is reserved, send the confirmation and the exact branch address.

Before a bank appointment

Tsisana Kalandia frequently attends interpreting appointments at SOLO, TBC Bank and Bank of Georgia branches in Tbilisi, especially in Saburtalo and Vake. This practical experience helps with advance planning, but it does not imply an official partnership with any bank; each bank sets its own requirements for each transaction.

A bank may request its own documents or additional information for a particular service. Confirm the requirements directly with the bank. An interpreter assists with communication, while the bank decides whether to open an account, process a transaction or approve another service.

Never send us your banking password, PIN or one-time authorisation code. For preparation, provide only the purpose of the visit and the documents that the interpreter genuinely needs to review.

Notary, court and clinic visits

For a notarial act, the notary determines the appropriate form of interpreter participation in the specific circumstances; the official register and information are available from the Notary Chamber of Georgia. A privately booked interpreter does not automatically become a court-appointed procedural interpreter. For a clinic visit, agree attendance with the clinic in advance, especially where third-party access or confidential health information is involved.

On the day of the appointment

  • Reconfirm the time, address and department;
  • Bring every document requested by the institution;
  • Tell the institution in advance that an interpreter will attend, where appropriate;
  • Arrive early enough for security or registration;
  • For a specialist subject, send essential terminology or a short agenda beforehand.
